http://static.letsbuyit.com/filer/images/uk/products/original/2/4/tomtom-go-540-live-gps-satellite-navigation-system_269593.jpegSatellite navigation is a given for many individuals who do a fair amount of driving. With so
many different models on the market today, it can be difficult to choose which unit is right for
you, especially if you have never had a sat nav unit before. Prices range from under a hundred
dollars to several hundred dollars depending upon the features and the manufacturer. If this is
your first foray into purchasing a navigation system for your vehicle, read the following
before making a final decision.

Think about how often and where you will use your satellite navigation system before
purchasing one. Also, look over the various features and decide which ones are important to
you. For example, one of the most important features that are important to users is the voice
directions. By purchasing a unit enabled with this feature, you won’t have to constantly
glance at the unit while driving. While you are looking at street signs, the voice will be
directing you where to turn.

Lane guidance is another important feature found on many top satellite navigation units, including many of
the Tom Tom satnav units. This is especially important when driving in unfamiliar areas as it
can cost you a lot of time and aggravation when you get stuck in the wrong lane, especially
one that suddenly becomes a turning lane only. Vehicle navigation units that have this feature
blatantly indicate which lane you should be driving in so it is easy to get where you are going
even if you are unfamiliar with the area.

tom tom satnav is one of the major brands you may want to consider when you are in the market for a vehicle navigation system. It is a good idea to shop for these units online, simply because you’ll have
a much larger selection. You will also find it easier to compare prices this way, and you can
quickly scan over the list of features for each unit.

The sleek, stealth Gemballa Mirage GT Matte Edition is not just for looks, as it’s powered by a 5.7L V10 engine that puts out 670hp, rocketing the vehicle from 0-60mph in just 3.7-seconds.

And now, there’s a third version that’s just slightly different on the outside, but it’s the one we’d buy if we had a spare Porsche Carrera GT, 300k, and an economy that didn’t put the kibosh on conspicuous consumption.

Though these speaker designs may not boast any cutting edge features, they are some of the strangest that we’ve come across. Continue reading to see more.

Light Bulb Speakers

Created by Altec Lansing, these light bulb speakers feature a wireless attachment that can be connected to a variety of audio devices, including Apple’s iPod. Users can also wirelessly stream music via Bluetooth to supported devices.

Starbuck’s Coffee Speakers

Before you throw out the Starbuck’s coffee cups laying around, check out this nifty mod, which turns them into functional speakers. To build your own, you’ll need: a TDA1552Q amplifier chip and plenty of cups — more the better, just in case you mess something up.

500XL Earphone Speakers

From afar, they may look like standard iPod earbuds, but they’re actually functional speakers that can be connected to any device with a 3.5mm audio jack. The device can also double as a belt should you want to look extra geeky. Available now, priced at $39.

Speaker Lamps

How about a new way hang your speakers? Even audiophiles will agree that mounting speakers for the perfect soundstage isn’t the easiest of tasks, so these speaker lamps aim to make things a bit easier.

Speech Bubble Speakers

Art Lebedev Studios introduces the Speech Bubble Speaker. At $120 per pair, they measure 4″ x 6″ x 2″ and feature a white ABS shell, mated to a matte black grille. No PC required. Simply connect it to any device with a headphone jack, and you’re set.

EGG Speaker

For those who prefer egg-shaped speaker docks, this gadget is just for you. When cracked open, you get two satellite speakers and a subwoofer, which doubles as the unit’s base. While we can’t vouch for its sound quality, it’s definitely an interesting conversation piece nonetheless.

KTM X-Bow Tackles the Snow

At $130000 and 1700-pounds, the KTM X-Bow is not only a track ready vehicle, but it can also tackle the snow. Think of it as an all-season, street legal go kart.

The biggest problem proved to be the lack of a windscreen. Not only was the full-face helmet necessary for warmth, but for keeping the constant spray of road-salt and slush thrown up by the snow plow-like front splitter out of the driver’s eyes.

Fighter Jet Motorcycle Includes Minigun

Aside from the minigun, this fighter jet inspired motorcycle “has a few added, nutty frills, such as an 8-inch LCD screen ‘to view Full Metal Jacket, Iron Eagle, or Top Gun and the ability to broadcast a view of the victims left in its wake via an integrated rear view camera.’”

“Obviously the first thing that grabs one’s attention is the 800-watt MTX audio system.” Well, sure, that’s impressive – but I think the minigun mounted to the front of the ‘cycle caught my eye first.
